VASA, BEHN EARN ICCAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

WEST BURLINGTON - In an electrifying week of collegiate sports, Southeastern CC’s dynamic duo Mason Behn and Maggie Vasa earned the laudable distinction of ICCAC Athlete of the Week for February 12-18. Each showcasing their exemplary talent in their respective games, Behn and Vasa each performed highly against their competitors, helping to propel their teams to success.

Stepping onto the baseball diamond with a fearless approach, Mason Behn took control of the game with his untamed pitching. Behn pitched a notable 6.0 innings, demonstrating an impressive ability to keep his opponents guessing. In a display of control and skill, he allowed no runs, restricting the opposition to a minimal three hits.

Behn's performance earned himself and the team athlete of the week for the first time this year, in their first week of competition. The Blackhawks will look to add on to this award as they travel to Millington, TN this weekend for five more games at the Babe Howard Classic.

In the same week that Behn was commanding the mound, Maggie Vasa was making her mark on the softball diamond with a powerful performance at the plate. Vasa turned heads with an impressive batting performance that saw her record 10 doubles and 5 RBIs in just 27 at-bats, a testament to her offensive talent and consistent hitting.

Her ability to connect with the ball, coupled with her speed, resulted in her scoring 11 runs for the Blackhawks. Her repeated success crossing the plate provided a significant boost to the team's score, demonstrating her vital role in the Blackhawks' offensive strategy.

Her impressive batting average, coupled with her speed on the base paths, added a high level of intensity to the games. Vasa's consistent offensive prowess was not only a critical factor in the games played during the week of February 12-18 but is also a significant contribution to her team's overall offensive strength.

With her skill, determination, and ability to deliver in clutch situations, Vasa has proven herself to be a formidable force on the softball field. Her continued performance at this level is something that opposing teams will surely need to contend with in future games. Vasa's contributions earned her ICCAC Athlete of the Week in the first weekend of play for the Blackhawks.

SCC Softball looks to continue its success moving forward. The next time you can catch the Blackhawks on the field is March 1st in Springfield, MO for the Drury Classic.
