At Southeastern:

Lucas Keifer has served as head coach of the Blackhawks women’s and men’s Track & Field and Cross Country programs since 2020.  

During the 2022 season the women’s cross country teams claimed the D2 ICCAC Region 11 Title, going on to place 10th at the D2 NJCAA Cross Country National Championships. Keifer also coached Aisha Ramone in 2022 to a D2 ICCAC Championship, 2nd place in the steeplechase at the NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, NJCAA All-American status in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. Along with a DMR 6th place finish with All- American Honors at the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships that included Allie Simpson, Carissa Mackey, and Cassidy Yaley. 

The Blackhawks men were runner-up finishers at the D2 ICCAC in 2022 before going to the NJCAA National Championships placing 21st. Both of these finishes were program bests for the Regional and National Meets. The 2022 squad finished the ICCAC D2 Cross Country Regional Championships with four individual All-Region honors. Keifer coached Brooks Julian to D2 ICCAC First Team All-Region in 2022 which was the first in program history.

Keifer was named D2 ICCAC Mens and Womens Cross Country Coach of the year in 2022. Since starting the program in 2020 the Blackhawks Track & Field and Cross Country Programs have seen:

  • 39 ICCAC All-Region Athletes
  • 3 Individual All-Americans
  • 2 Individual ICCAC Conference Champions 
  • 1 Relay ICCAC Conference Champions
  • 1 Relay All-American
  • 57 ICCAC Academic All-Region Athletes
  • 3 USTFCCCA Academic All-America Athletes

Coaching Experience:

Keifer was the Head Cross Country Coach at Averett University in Danville, Virginia from 2018-2020. 

This was his first stop in collegiate coaching where he was the head cross country coach while also earning his Masters in Education. Keifer also helped create new opportunities on the track for his cross country runners where for the first time in program history student-athletes competed in Track & Field for the University. Keifer coached 2 freshmen to Rookie of the year Honors in the USA South Conference in 2018 and 2019.  

Athletic Experience: 

Keifer competed for the University of Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Hastings College in both track and cross country from 2013-2018. 

Keifer was  a Letterman in cross country as a freshman and earning All Big 10 Academic Conference Honors. Keifer spent his sophomore year at distance powerhouse Oklahoma State University. Keifer went on to finish his running career at Hastings College, 3 time NAIA National Qualifier, 9 time All-Conference Award Winner, Conference Champion in the indoor 5K and Runner Up in the Outdoor 10k. Keifer also managed to put himself on Hastings College All-time top 10 Charts in 8 different Track and Field events ranging from the 1,000 meter run all the way to the half marathon. Keifer played a key role in breaking the school record for the DMR in 2016 where he served as the mile leg. In the fall, he also made the Cross Country All-Time top 10 list.

B. A. in Exercise Science from Hastings College (Nebraska). 

M. ED. in Curriculum and Instruction from Averett University (Virginia).
