Polley, Kaufman Take Over Men’s, Women’s Cross Country Teams

West Burlington – After laying the foundation for SCC's first men and women's cross country teams, Coach Mike Klesner is handing the baton over Mike Polley and Ralph Kaufman.

Head Coach Polley brings with him five years of coaching at Wapello High School. A math instructor at SCC, he looks forward to building this program for the college's students.

"I've wanted to see this program thrive from the get-go," he says. "It's a great addition to the college. A great opportunity for both our two-year and transfer students to continue their running career.

SCC Athletic Director Tyler Gaston is excited to have Polley and Kaufman take the reins.

"Mike and Ralph have the passion needed to continue building this program," he says. "They share SCC's vision and want to offer opportunities for cross country runners to compete at the college level in our area."

Gaston adds that he's grateful for Klesner's commitment to the team, and says he'll always be considered a Blackhawk.

"It takes a team to build a team," Klesner says. "I'm off to a new venture, but Mike and Ralph will do great. They know I'm here to help."
