Coach Melissa Flores is entering her 21st season as Head Coach of the SCC Softball Team. Flores brings a career record of 459-405.  In her 2nd season the Blackhawks finished with a 39-6 record, most wins in school history, 2nd place conference finish and led the Blackhawks to a NJCAA Division II National Championship. After winning the National Title in 2003, the Blackhawks moved to Division I. In her 5th season the Blackhawks finished with a 43-14 record, 1st place conference finish and a National appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament where the Blackhawk's finished 7th place.  In 2009 the Blackhawks finished with a 29-17 record, 1st place conference finish, 1st place Regional and District Champions and qualified for a national appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament where the Blackhawks finished top twelve in the nation.  In 2014 the Blackhawks finished 3rd place in the conference and were ICCAC Region XI Champions.  Coach Flores is a native of Burlington, Iowa earning all-state honors. Melissa began her college career at the University of Northern Iowa. While attending UNI, Melissa was a member of the softball team. Upon finishing her softball career at UNI, Melissa transferred to Western Illinois where she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. Melissa recently graduated with her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studiest at Iowa State University.
