SCC Volleyball Supports one of SCC’S Family Members Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia

SCC Volleyball donates to one of SCC employees who's family member has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia by purchasing Jon Boy bracelets.  SCC employee Rhonda Howard's nephew Jonathan Adams was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia  (AML) on his 31st birthday. Upon Jon's diagnosis, he was hospitalized immediately at Mercy in Des Moines to undergo 7 days of 24 hour chemo.  Jon has also FLAF-IDA Chemotherapy for 5 days and will have a resting period before he has another bone marrow biopsy.  Jon will need to be in 100% remission before he is transferred to Iowa City it undergo a bone marrow transplant.  Jon will be admitted to Iowa City on October 20 and undergo the transplant sometime that week. Jon has remained in high spirits and is fighting like no other to beat this.

Rhonda wants topay if forward to others fighting. Her birth month is November and wants to celebrate a little different this year. Rhonda has signed up for the Birthday challenge at the Blood Center in Burlington, in HONOR of her nephew Jonathan Adams. For the month of November please stop in the blood center and donate for Rhonda's Birthday challenge. Rhonda need 56 donors to make her goal.  Jon has had to have blood transfusions and I have seen firsthand how this has helped save his life. So please in the month of November won't you take a little of your time and donate to support the cause for Jon and everyone else fighting and needing a donation. Jon's bone marrow transplant is scheduled sometime after Oct 20th.

For more information or to purchase Jon Boy bracelets, please contact Rhonda Howard at rhoward@scciowa.edu or 319-208-5092.
