RESULTS FROM THE 2023 MEN'S & WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

WEST BURLINGTON - Southeastern Cross Country competed in the National Championships this past weekend, and with the women taking 9th place overall in the DII team total, and the men taking 16th place overall.

Southeastern standout Aisha Ramone took 14th place in the National Championship, and first out of all runners in our Region. Aisha ran a 19:80.11, earning 10 points for the Blackhawks. Teammates Arianna Pedrin and Brooklyn Mehle were the next Blackhawks to cross the finish line. The pair had times of 20:35.90 and 10:39.20, respectively. Carissa Mackey trailed the duo not far behind with a time of 20:56.50. Teammates Ella Schroder and Gabi Moehlman finalized the scoring for the Blackhawks, the two Blackhawk runners had times of 22:47.20 and 23:01.60. The Blackhawks came in 9th out of 38 teams competing in the women's DII Championships.

Additional accolades were added for the Blackhawks in the 2023 season. Aisha Ramone was named Central Women's Athlete of the Year, DII Midwest Runner of the Year, and made the All-American list by the USTFCCCA & Coaches Association.

The Blackhawk men scored 447 Saturday afternoon, cementing them in 16th place out of 38 teams competing in the DII Championship. The Blackhawks were led by Brooks Julian once again, who broke the Southeastern school record for the men's 8K with a time of 26:36.80. The Blackhawks' next runners to finish were Freddy Vergara and Ryan Kuhlman, who both had times in the 27 minute mark. Freshman Jeff Campbell would finish next for the Blackhawks with a time of 28:24.40, putting him at 130 out of 199 runners in DII. Cauy Garrett and Tyler Johnson were the final Blackhawks to cross the finish line; the duo each crossed the finish line in the 29 minute mark. 

Blackhawk sophomore Brooks Julian was also awarded additional accolades. Brooks was named to the Coaches Association All-American list, and now holds the Southeastern school record for the men's 8K.

Additionally, Coach Lucas Keifer was named DII Midwest Coach of the Year for his success coaching in 2023.
