Coach Glass earns 100th career win as Blackhawks move to 6-0

WEST BURLINGTON – Coach Michelle Glass earned her 100th career win against Glen Oaks on Sunday, August 20th, 2023, when the Blackhawks traveled to Rockford, IL to compete in the opening weekend tournament. The Blackhawks recorded 6 wins and 0 losses, matching the best record SCC has had through their first 6 games since 2013-2014. SCC’s 6-0 start also leads the ICCAC in overall record.

Southeastern has been led by sophomores Lillian Simpson and Lamecia Schaerrer, while also receiving strong performances from the rest of the Blackhawks. Following this weekend Lillian Simpson is tied for 6th in the nation in DII kills on the season recording 66, while Mckenna Marlow is 14th with 52. Marlow and Simpson also share 3rd in the nation in digs, tying only themselves with 96 through 6 games. Schaerrer recorded 193 assists over the weekend, solidifying herself in 3rd place in the nation, and averaging 10.16 assist per set, putting her in 6th place in DII. The Blackhawks will travel to Arizona for the Aztec Classic this upcoming weekend in hopes of keeping their undefeated streak alive.

As a result of coach’s 100th win, Jimmy John’s will be donating 100 sandwiches for fans at the Jimmy John’s tournament on September 1st for the 8PM game vs. Highland. The Jimmy John's tournament will be played at Loren Walker Arena on SCC's West Burlington campus. Blackhawk volleyball would like to invite the public to help celebrate this great accomplishment!
