Mens Track Compete at Region VI/KNCCC Invite

The Blackhawk Men's Track and Field team competed their second time over the weekend on Sunday, January 31st at Pitt State in Pittsburg Kansas.

Daron Jackson popped off a nice jump to start the meet, his jump was good enough to win his flight securing a spot in the finals. Daron finished 6th place with a jump of 6.49m. The Blackhawks also had Michael Mosena and Bryce Payne competing in the long jump as well.

We saw some more action in the Men's 60m, 200m, and 400m, Michael Mosena had a good day for the blackhawks running 7.44 in the 60m Dash and 24.50 in the 200m. Bryce Payne competed in the same events following with a 7.70 in the 60m and 25.63 in the 200m. Daron Jackson and Gavin Brown ran hard in the men's 400m running 54.99 for Jackson and 60.08 for Brown.

Owen Timmerman and Thadd Brooks competed in the Men's distance events for the Blackhawks, Timmerman raced the 800 in 2:12 placing 14th overall and Thadd Brooks competed in the men's mile clocking in at 5:09 placing 5th in his heat and 13th overall. 

The Men have two athletes ranked nationally, Daron Jackson found himself ranked 25th nationally and 9th in the ICACC for the long jump and Timmerman also found himself ranked 44th nationally and 21st in the ICCAC.

"I was pretty pleased with everyone's performances today, the majority of our athletes saw personal improvements so we are going to continue to work hard through these next few weeks so we can be our sharpest at the regional/national meets." Said Keifer

Next, the Blackhawk men will compete at the Waldorf Invitational at the Humboldt Recreation Center in Humboldt. Saturday, Feb. 6.
