REIVERS DEFEAT BLACKHAWKS IN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

WEST BURLINGTON - The Iowa Western Reivers topped the Southeastern Blackhawks in Saturday's bout ebtween the two teams.

The first quarter proved to be competitive, as each team traded buckets. Iowa Western displayed their athleticism with their full-court press, which proved to be difficult for the Blackhawks to handle. At the end of the first quarter, the Reivers led 20-10.

The Reivers showed no intention of slowing down in the remainder of the game. The Reivers began to put stops together which led to easy transition buckets. The Blackhawks fought valiantly, however the Reivers were too much to handle in the end.

The final score of Saturday's bout was 70-38 in favor of the Reivers. 

The Blackhawks were led in scoring once again by Sophomore Danajah Peterson, who had 14 points. Trailing not far behind was Naire Lucas, who tallied 12 points. Along with Naire's 12 points, she recorded 13 rebounds against the Reivers, a strong performance against the 14-1 #2 ranked team in DII NJCAA hoops. 

The Blackhawks' next game will be January 10th at NIACC. SCC's next home game is this coming Saturday, January 13th against Marshalltown Community College in West Burlington.
