SCC Cross Country Is Looking to Regionals

West Burlington, IA-

With SCC's second year of cross country nearing the end of the season the men's and women's teams are looking toward the Region XI meet Friday, Oct. 25 at Indian Hills.

The women's team has improved steadily throughout the season and are looking to have their best meet of the season.  The team has been led by standout freshman Lexi Brown.  Lexi opened the season with a 4th place finish at the Region XI Time Trial, she placed 2nd at Central College, placed 20th at the very tough Dan Huston Meet, and was 3rd at St. Ambrose.  Lexi is looking to qualify for the NJCAA National Championship this Friday.

The men's team returned Dalton Ellingboe and Kyler Martin from SCC's first team and added five new freshmen.  Dalton qualified for the NJCAA National Championship last season and, after working through a summer injury, is looking to qualify again this year.  Dalton had a 15th place finish at the St. Ambrose meet.  The other runners have shown steady improvement throughout the season and are looking to finish the season on a strong note Friday.

The Region XI meet will be held at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa.  The men run at 4 pm and the women run at 4:45 pm.

Good luck to both teams at regionals on Friday.
