Women's Cross Country Lexi Brown Qualifies to Nationals

(West Burlington, IA)-The Blackhawk Cross Country teams finished the regular season meet schedule Friday, Oct. 25 running at Indian Hills in the ICCAC Region XI Tournament.  Although neither team fielded full squads due to illness and injury, both teams ran well. The men ran first in an 8K race.  Dalton Ellingboe, who qualified and ran in the 2018 NJCAA National Championship last year, was the top finisher for the Blackhawks in an all-time best of 26:42.  This was 10 seconds faster than his time at the 2018 ICCAC Regional Tournament. Cody Welch was the team's second finisher in 31:06, followed by Kurt Koopman (31:35) and Kyler Martin (31:48).  All three times were personal bests. The women ran a 5K and Lexi Brown was 8th in an all-time best of 18:51.  Lexi earned ICCAC 2nd Team All-Region honors with her finish.  Francis Bittle was the only other runner for the women and finished in a season best of 35:14. Both Lexi Brown and Dalton Ellingboe qualified for the 2019 NJCAA National Championship on Nov. 9 in Albuquerque, NM.
