WEST BURLINGTON - Southeastern's Juan Lagares has earned NJCAA, ICCAC athlete of the week honors for the week of September 9-15th, 2024. Lagares, a sophomore striker for the Blackhawks had 7 goals and one assist in three games last week. During Juan's scoring run, the Blackhawks earned much needed wins over East Central, Carl Sandburg, and Metropolitan. After the three game win streak, the Blackhawks are sitting at 5-4-1.

Lagares began the season for the Blackhawks sidelined by injury. Lagares missed the first 5 games in which the Blackhawks went 1-4 and were outscored 17-1. Since Juan's return, the Blackhawks have gone an a 4-0-1 streak, where the Blackhawks have outscored their opponents 24-10. During the streak, Juan has recorded 11 goals and 2 assists. In two separate matches this season, Juan has scored 4 goals, with the most recent being this Wednesday when the Blackhawks defeated Dakota County 7-2. Juan is tied for third nationally in DII soccer in goals scored, having only played 5 games. 

The Blackhawks' next game is this Saturday, September 21, 2024 against Iowa Central in Fort Dodge. The Blackhawks will return home the following Saturday to face the defending NJCAA DII Iowa Lakes Lakers.
