SCC WBB Beats Lewis and Clark

SCC WBB Beats Lewis and Clark

On Saturday afternoon the Lady Blackhawks beat Lewis and Clark Community College to win their second straight game and started a home winning streak.  The Lady Blackhawks, now 2-0 at home, offered viewers much drama in the 89-86 double overtime victory.

SCC jumped out to an early lead in the contest.  Using superior speed, and pressure, the Blackhawks looked like they might put this one away early.  However, the Blackhawks soon found themselves in struggling to make field goal attempts from near and far.  In this stretch, the Trailblazers proved tough and competitive.  Slowly gaining confidence, versus the team who had overpowered them out of the gate, the Trailblazers soon found their first lead, and were leading by a few baskets by half-time.

In the early stanzas of the second half, the Blackhawks began to find their scoring ways again.  Riding their confidence from the first half, the Trailblazers continued to score as well, trading buckets with the home Blackhawks.  Finally, with a fourth quarter surge, the Blackhawks overcame the six point deficit and took the lead by as many as seven points.  An awkward, final two minutes, saw the Trailblazers make their own run as time expired, literally.  With just two-tenths of a second on the game clock, an official called a foul sending the Trailblazers to the line down two points.  Both free throws were made sending the game into overtime.

As they had done all game long, Andreisha Waller and Nadirah Oakman proved to be the most dominant players in the contest.  Each provided the Blackhawks with overtime three-pointers and other toughly contested makes in the key.  The exciting, double-overtime win, provided the home crowd with ample drama and excitement on what otherwise might have been a lazy Saturday in November.
