Blackhawks fall to DMACC Bears

WEST BURLINGTON - The SCC Blackhawks lost 3-0 Wednesday night to the 9-2 DMACC Bears, in a back-and-forth match. The Blackhawks started out slow in the first set again, finding themselves at deficits of 5-1 and 14-9 before eventually losing the set 25-16.

Set 2 went down to the final point, where DMACC pulled off the 25-23 win. Both teams were knotted at scores of 7-7, 10-10, before Southeastern took 1 lead of 17-14. The Blackhawks couldn't hold on to the lead, and the Bears climbed back to tie it at 20 and eventually take the set.

Set 3 once again proved the Blackhawks to start from behind, going down 4-0 and 7-1 before winning 5 straight points. The set was close again where each team was tied at 20, 21, and 22 before the bears took the third and final set. 

The Blackhawks saw a larger role out of Freshman Hailey Flores, who recorded 8 kills and 2 digs in the match. Along with Flores Lillian Simpson provided a strong performance up front, posting 10 kills. In the back row, Hanna Farrey provided a strong performance with 19 digs. The Blackhawks' next home game is against Iowa Lakes on Thursday, September 21.
