BLACKHAWKS EARN CONFERENCE WIN, CELEBRATE MARLOW'S 500TH KILL

WEST BURLINGTON - Southeastern Community College Volleyball put on an impressive performance on Thursday, September 27th, defeating Hawkeye CC 3-1 after dropping the first set. The Blackhawks rallied back from this deficit and won three straight by scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-19.

Between the second and third sets, the Blackhawks celebrated sophomore captain McKenna Marlow's 500th career kill in which she eclipsed last Friday during their double header at Parkland.

On the year, McKenna Marlow has accumulated 219 digs and 170 kills through 19 games. Per set, Marlow averages 2.88 kills, the fifth best average in ICCAC DII volleyball. Amongst DII ICCAC leaders in digs, Marlow comes in at #13 overall with 3.71 per set. Marlow has been a standout for the Blackhawks both years while at SCC, and has moved into the captains role in her second season after the departure of Blackhawk sophomores Lamecia Schaerrer and Lillian Simpson a year ago. Marlow's leadership has the Blackhawks 3-2 in conference with the majority of the conference schedule still ahead.

You can catch the Blackhawks back at home next Wednesday at 7:00PM in Loren Walker Arena as they face conference foe North Iowa Area Community College. As always, keep up with the Blackhawks schedule here at sccblackhawks.com in the volleyball tab.
