The 11th Annual Celebrity Night for SCC Athletics was a success.  The crowd attendance was at a record high with over 300 fans in attendance and 25 VIP tables sponsored for the night.  Fans had the opportunity to personally meet Bobby Knight, take photos with him and have these photos signed by him.  Bobby Knight began his speaking portion of the night with three humorous stories.  Beyond the humor, these stories addressed his values and beliefs as an educator.  After delivering his eloquently timed punched lines, he opened the room for questions.  Most of the questions were about people that inspired him personally, the culture of sports today, and specific questions about specific players and his time as the coach for the US National team during the Olympics.  SCC Athletic Director, Tyler Gaston had this to say of Bobby Knight. "Bobby Knight is a genuine individual.  For years, I have seen, or read, his opinion that the best coaches are exceptional teachers. I have read his thoughts on respect, accountability, and developing successful people.  It is very clear that these beliefts are not some contrived image, but, they are genuine values for Bobby Knight."  Money raised for the event benefits SCC Athletics in the way of scholarships.  For more information, please contact SCC Athletic Director, Tyler Gaston at tgaston@scciowa.edu or 319-208-5024.
