MASON CITY - The Blackhawks lead wire to wire in SCC's conference opener at North Iowa Area Community College. SCC (5-5) knocked off previously undefeated NIACC 64-61, in a game that saw the Blackhawks lead by as much as 19.
SCC took a 45-31 lead into the half. The Trojans began to cut into their deficit outscoring the Blackhawks 18-11 in the third quarter and 12-8 in the fourth quarter.
The Blackhawks were lead by 15 points off the bench from Tut Braxton, who added 5 assists. Olivia Ashton was next in line for the Blackhawks with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Antuanae Garrett also reached double figures with 10 points and 8 steals.
SCC returns to action Sunday at 1pm in an ICCAC conference bout vs Iowa Lakes.
