Keokuk, Iowa- The SCC Women's Basketball program honored 2009 NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American Gabriella "Gabby" Binion before tip off on Saturday. Gabrielle "Gabby" Binion is originally from Davenport, IA.  Gabby wore #32 for the Blackhawks and played here from 2008-2010. During Gabby's time at SCC, she was 2010 Distinguished Alumnus Scholarship award winner, All-U.S.A. Academic Team Award honoree, Second Team All-Region honors, and was a NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American. Binion played in all 30 games and finished second in NJCAA Division II in assists per game. She led the Blackhawks in assists and defensive rebounds as a 5-7 guard and was second on the team in steals. Binion averaged 11.5 points, 7.4 assists, 6 rebounds and 2.6 steals as a sophomore. She shot 44 percent from the field, 36.3 percent from three-point range and 71.8 percent from the free throw line. Gabby currently resides in Milwaukee, WI with her husband, Jose, and their dog, Luna.  She is an investment attorney for Northwestern Mutual. In her spare time, she coaches an 8^th grade boy's basketball team and runs her own travel agency. Gabby attended the halftime ceremony with her parents, Nora and Devon, her husband, Jose, and her sister, Jasmine.
