Blackhawks Win Back-to-Back Matches at Jimmy John’s Invite #3

The Blackhawks had a successful weekend winning both matches for the last home tournament of the season. During the Oakton match, freshman outside hitter Rachel Bingham hit a career high of a .414 with 13 kills and 1 error. She defensively had 11 digs with a pair of aces. Sophomore right-side hitter Rachel Malinowski added 7 kills, 6 digs, and 1 ace. Freshman outside hitter Kennedy Good defensively had 20 digs and offensively produced 6 kills and 1 ace. Freshman setter Jenna Saad had 28 assists and 2 blocks while middles, Lesieli Vaenuku and Jassmine Bass both had 2 block assists and 2 solo blocks.

 

During game two against Graceland University Varsity Reserve, the Blackhawks established their offense around freshman setter Katie Westfall who accumulated 29 assists. Bingham had 14 kills with a .333 hitting percentage along with 13 digs and 1 ace, while freshman captain of the week Kennedy Good added 7 kills and 18 digs. Malinowski was close behind with 6 kills, 9 digs, and 1 ace while middles Bass and Vaenuku had 6 kills and 5 kills respectively. Bass had 5 solo blocks while Vaenuku had 2. Freshman libero Melodee Schulte had 21 digs while Caitlin Good had 2 aces and 2 digs.

 

The Blackhawks have 7 matches this week. Their next conference match is this Wednesday at Ellsworth Community College starting at 7pm, then they are on the road in Chicago starting Friday for the South Suburban Dig Pink Tournament.
